I knew I wanted a pair of Jordan Futures the moment I saw them on Complex. In a good way, it was uncharacteristically un-Jordan Brand. While the brand’s retro sneakers have come to characterize today’s popular casual sneakers, they were originally created for performance. However, models designed as casual shoes have frequently disappointed.
Jordan Brand has released some pretty terrifying casual shoes in recent years. The Fusion range, which included shoes like the AJF5 in a plaid Miami Dolphins colorway, may never be forgotten. The Jordan Future, on the other hand, is unique and may be suitably labeled.
Initially, the Jordan Future had a mixed response online. It was as though folks wanted to appreciate the sneaker but couldn’t because they didn’t think they should. After all, by borrowing the Air Jordan XI tooling, it took direct influence from one of the most revered sneakers of all time.
It didn’t affect me in the least because I don’t consider the Air Jordan XI to be one of my favorite shoes. To be fair, this isn’t the first time it’s been attempted. While the Air Jordan XI IE comes from the same era as the XI, it is a completely separate sneaker.
However, repurposing the XI’s tooling for the Future isn’t the most offensive thing that’s been done to it. Remember the Air Jordan 1 Retro from 1995? Leaving the Jumpman off the 25th anniversary XI is another option. Perhaps you recall a shoe called the Jordan CMFT 11 Viz Air. What about the plethora of lower-tiered shoes with patent leather strewn everywhere?
While the Future does use the Air Jordan XI tooling, what I enjoy about it is that it transforms it into something entirely new. It doesn’t borrow any additional design inspirations from the XI, and the end result is fantastic. Sure, it looks like something from Nike’s Sportswear brand, but just because it’s not 100 percent original doesn’t mean it can’t be better.
This article was supposed to be about why I bought the Jordan Future on the day it was released. I, on the other hand, did not. It’s not that I couldn’t or wouldn’t change my mind. I couldn’t do it.
I couldn’t find them in any of my local stores, and even if they were available online, I’ve given up trying to buy anything there these days. Call me old-fashioned, but I’m willing to camp out for a shoe rather than waiting online for a Twitter link.
Based on the $600 prices they’re presently fetching on eBay, it’s unlikely that I’ll be purchasing a pair there anytime soon. At least until they’re inevitably suffocated by too many colours, too close together, and I’m no longer interested in them. But, for now, I believe the Jordan Future is a fantastic sneaker and a fantastic trajectory for the brand.
While we know Jordan Brand has a huge market share in the basketball category, we also know that the vast majority of those shoes are never worn to play basketball in. For years, retros were their only respectable casual options.
The Future, on the other hand, permits their performance line to excel at performing while ignoring the need for casual use. Although the Air Jordan XX8 is my favorite shoe of all time, I would never wear it outside of the gym. The Future, on the other hand, cannot be mistaken for a hoops shoe. I can’t recall the last time a Jordan Brand sneaker didn’t feature a massive and conspicuous Jumpman logo. It enables them to remain current in a casual style that isn’t retro, which is a significant step forward for the brand.
Are Jordan futures sizes accurate?
The sneaker’s inner liner is made of a Nylon material that is exceptionally soft and allows the shoe to be worn with or without socks, making it a great summer alternative. Because there is no heel counter, you should try these on before purchasing because you may experience heel slippage. They should fit perfectly if you order your normal size, as the overall fit is good and the midfoot is fairly snug.
The Jordan Future is a simple sneaker with a lot of style and versatility. The Jordan Future’s silhouette can be dressed up or down with shorts, jeans, or joggers, and with or without socks, making it a terrific summer outfit. These are are available for $150 at certain Jordan brand shops and Footlocker, but practically every colorway is sold out. The Jordan Brand has published new photos of a new 3M Jordan Future pack that will be launched soon. For a clean, comfy off-court style, I definitely recommend the Jordan Future. If you’re thinking about hooping in these, you’re out of luck because there’s no structure to speak of. It looks and feels like a high-end Roshe with a jumpman logo.
How should the Jordan 1s be laced?
- The lace tip should be placed directly under the eyelid (meaning you pull the lace tip up through the eyelid, not down through the eyelid)
When were Jordan futures released?

“Unless you’re on Team Jordan, you can’t wear my shoes”: Michael Jordan permits only Jordan Brand players to wear his sneakers during NBA games. Michael Jordan, a Chicago Bulls legend, refused to let any NBA player wear his Jordan brand shoes. Mike wished for his Team Jordan to remain a private club.

When Nike first created the Air Jordan 1 in 1984 for then-rookie Michael Jordan, the sneaker was designed to be used on the basketball court.
So, in a nutshell, sure, you can hoop in Air Jordan 1s. However, some technical and cultural considerations, as well as the way the silhouette is seen in today’s sneaker community, contribute to the overall perception that they aren’t the best option for wearing on-court nowadays.
Is there a shoe for Future?
The Air Force 1 sneakers are having a moment right now, thanks to celebrity style and Gen-Z fashion. During the chaos of 2020, influencers on Instagram and TikTok reverted to the style as a return to familiarity and stability in the shape of a shoe. The sneaker is presently the most popular for the year, according to the NPD Group. How would you style the Jordan 1 Mid?
If your shoes are too tight, your feet will resemble boats. If your clothes are too big, you may resemble Michael Jordan. A tapered pant that sits just exactly on the top of the tongue is the ideal medium. You just want to be able to put your shoes on and go.
Jordan Future was created by who?
With its high-tech outsole and patent leather covering, the Air Jordan 11 became an instant classic in 1995. Michael Jordan wore the popular dress shoe material for the first time on the basketball court, and the rest is history. In 2014, the Air Jordan Future Premium is expected to accomplish the same, combining high-quality materials and exquisite color blocking with a classic outsole. What’s the end result? A pair of sneakers that are both functional and comfy.
The Jordan Future, on the other hand, isn’t the same as the Air Jordan 11. The patent leather upper has been replaced with a super-light woven tech material, and the lifestyle shoes have a smaller lacing area than their basketball counterparts made of leather and nubuck. The outsole, on the other hand, is virtually intact from the classic, with the same frosty EVA substance and carbon fiber shank.
Since the Jordan Futures were first released earlier this year, Nike has released them in a variety of colorways, but the metallic silver version shown above represents the shoe’s second premium iteration. The nubuck tongue and inner liner are also replaced with soft, sock-like suede, and the woven upper is threaded with 3M material. Under bright lights and camera flashes, the latter function ensures that the shoes really pop.
