How long do you have to hold a stock to get the dividend?
For dividends to be taxed at the preferred 15% rate, you must hold the shares for a certain amount of time. Within the 121-day window surrounding the ex-dividend date, the minimum term is 61 days. Beginning 60 days prior to the ex-dividend date, the 121-day period begins.
How do you collect dividends?

The Depository Trust Corporation receives the monies from the company on the payment date and distributes them to shareholders (DTC). The DTC then distributes the cash payments to the various brokerage firms across the world where the company’s shares are held by investors. In accordance with a customer’s instructions, the receiving firms properly apply dividends to client accounts or perform reinvestment operations.
A shareholder’s tax status is influenced by a variety of factors, including the dividend declared, the account type in which they hold their shares, and how long they’ve owned the shares for. Form 1099-DIV summarizes dividend payments for tax purposes each year.
Do Tesla pay dividends?

Why did I not get my dividend?

Who is eligible for dividend?
